NOTES
Hyperrealistic reconstruction in 1:1 scale, made of silicone rubber, resin and natural hair. The sculpture was commissioned by the MUSE Museum in Trento and authorised by the Charlie Chaplin Foundation, based on the theme of Modern Times, the film starring, written, directed and produced by Charlie Chaplin (1936).
The reconstruction of Charlie Chaplin is located on the +1 floor of the Museum, between the Alpine Prehistory gallery (which describes the relationship between man and the environment during Prehistory, from the Palaeolithic to the Iron Age) and the sustainability gallery (which, from a contemporary perspective, recounts the current relationship between man and the environment).
In this context, Charlie Chaplin from the film “Modern Times” is chosen as an icon of the 20th century, a century in which, as never before, the relationship between man and the environment changed, mainly due to industrialisation.
The same exhibition unit also tells the story of the neighbourhood that now houses MUSE, which in the last century was home to a factory belonging to Michelin, the French tyre giant. The presence of this factory had a huge impact on the socio-economic structure of the city of Trento and its surroundings. (edited by E.Flor)
