NOTES
Tragedia Endogonidia by Romeo Castellucci is a unique work that unfolds over three years (2001-2004) and evolves through different stages, called Episodes, each of which is connected to the city from which it takes its name.
The term ‘endogonidia’ refers to simple living beings that contain the coexistence of gonads within themselves: this allows them to reproduce endlessly. ‘Tragedy’, on the contrary, always presupposes an end and deals with the end. The idea of this Tragedy is one of self-generation of original ideas, figures and concepts, organized in a dramatic cycle that takes up the model of Greek tragedy but fills it with content oriented toward the future.
